In December 2025, I visited Jim Corbett National Park in Uttrakhand, India’s oldest national park. It is completely spread over Nainital, Pauri Garwahl and Almora Districts of Uttarakhand. The park is known for its initiative Project Tiger, for the endangered Bengal tiger of India. After India’s independence in 1947, the park was renamed as Ramganga National Park. But in 1956 it was renamed as Jim Corbett National Park in the memory of Colonel Jim Corbett. This place is a perfect destination for nature lovers, wildlife photographers, and adventure enthusiasts. Corbett National Park (CNP) is one of India’s richest wilderness areas. The natural uniqueness of the area was recognised long ago and so in 1936 Corbett attained the distinction as the first national park to be established in mainland Asia.

I was lucky to get the availability in this resort, when I planned my trip. Because I had checked its ratings and reviews on social media, which were quite good. I really liked it and I wanted to stay here.
I spent 2 nights and 3 days in this resort. The room facilities and services were excellent, and the natural beauty surrounding this resort was truly amazing.

Beautiful Dining area with Delicious food
One of the attractive parts of the resort was the dining area. The dining area was surrounded by natural beauty, such as flowing rivers, lush green trees and plants. Eating a meal while watching the beautiful and natural views of nature is a very peaceful and relaxing experience itself.
My package included Breakfast, lunch and Dinner as a buffet, so I didn’t have to work too hard to choose the menu. Everything available to us tasted excellent and was absolutely delicious.
Places where I visited
1. Garjia Devi Temple
Garjiya Devi Temple is a famous Hindu pilgrimage site that is dedicated to Goddess Parvati. This temple is located on the outskirts of Corbett National Park in Garjiya village near Ramnagar. This must visit temple is built on a rock in the middle of Kosi River and it is simply a worth visiting attraction. In order to get to the top of the temple, one has to climb a steep staircase and once there you can notice a 4.5 feet high idol of Girija Devi. You can also see the idols of Devi Saraswati, Lord Ganesha and Batuk Bhairava. Besides thousands of visitors that visit the temple throughout the year, an annual fair held on Kartik Poornima attracts natives and inhabitants from nearby villages. The view of the surrounding jungle that the temple offers is eerie yet serene.
2. Hanuman Dham
Hanuman Dham is located in Ramnagar amidst peaceful and tranquil surroundings. This is a must visit attraction in Ramnagar district and the temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman. The architecture of the temple is splendid in appearance, both interiors and exteriors. This well-known tourist attraction has an arched gateway to the temple that depicts two fishes on the gateway symbolizing fortune and prosperity.
3. Corbett Waterfall
Eloped in the dense teak wood forest, Corbett Waterfalls dropping down from a height of 60 feet offer a refreshing break from a tiring safari session. The area around the waterfall is just the perfect place to enjoy a picnic. While visiting the waterfall, make a point to carry sufficient drink and food stock as there are no eating joints nearby. One can also enjoy birdwatching here.
Tourists can take buses or taxis from Kaladhungi (4 kilometers) and Ramnagar (27 kilometers). To reach the main waterfall, trek for approximately 1.5 kilometers from the parking area. Holidays in Corbett National Park should be avoided during the monsoon season as the region is prone to landslides and soil erosion. But tourists can visit the Corbett Falls throughout the year.
4. Corbett Museum
Located in the Kaladhungi, Corbett Museum is the heritage property of the Jim Corbett, the man behind the making of Corbett who was a renowned hunter turned environmentalist. The museum is built to commemorate his achievements and contribution in the making of the national park. The museum gives a peak in the wildlife of Corbett. Here on display are some belongings of Jim Corbett like personal articles, paintings, sketches, manuscripts and last hunt of its own. One can also visit the shop near the museums to purchase some handicrafts.

Dhikuli: This well known destination in Corbett is situated at the fringes of Patli Dun valley. There is a rest house here which was built hundred of years ago. Kanda ridge forms the backdrop, and from Dhikala, one can enjoy the spectacular natural beauty of the valley.
Jeeps Safari is the most convenient way to travel within Corbett national park, and can be rented for the park trips from Ramnagar.
Treks: Tourists are not allowed to have a walk inside the park, but they are allowed to go for trekking around the park, only with a guide. This place becomes very cold in the winter season, so tourists should make proper arrangements for themselves, if they are traveling in the winter season.
Kalagarh Dam: This dam is located in the south west direction of the Jim Corbett wildlife sanctuary. This is one of the best places for the bird watching tour. Lots of migratory waterfowl come here in the winters.
My Amazing Safari Experience with little fear
I can’t say for sure jungle safari was truly relaxing and peaceful, especially when you are in an open jeep. However, I can definitely say that this safari was exciting and adventurous with little fear of animals. Of course, there is a guide with you but the tourist also has to take responsibility and some prcautions.
Still I will say the jeep safari was the most exciting part of our trip. I saw elephants, deer, peacocks, monkeys, and many beautiful birds. Although spotting a tiger is rare. As we travelled through the beautiful forest, I enjoyed seeing wild animals, green landscapes, and green surroundings. The excitement of exploring the jungle and being so close to nature made the trip special. It was a wonderful adventure filled with beautiful memories that I will always cherish.

How to reach
By Road–
Jim corbett national park from Delhi by Road – Hapur by pass – Gajraula – Moradabad by-pass – From this point, where Moradabad by-pass terminates, take “U” turn to left towards Moradabad city, travel 2 km, then take right turn – Kashipur – Jim Corbett (Ramnagar) ( 270 KM )
By Train-
The nearest railway station from Corbett is Ramnagar which is around 12 km from the park and the station is directly connected to the railway stations in Delhi. A direct train named Ranikhet Express runs from Delhi to Ramnagar which is the best train to reach Corbett from Delhi. You can catch the Ranikhet express at 10:50 pm at Delhi to reach Ramnagar at 04:35 am next day, and again return by catching the same train at Ramnagar at 09:05 pm to reach Delhi at 05:00 am next day.
By Air-
Jim Corbett National Park doesn’t have an airport. If one wants to go by air, Phoolbagh in Pantnagar is the nearest airport. It is located 78 km away from Jim Corbett. Pantnagar airport is well connected with major cities in India, so one can easily reach there. Delhi which is 300 km away is the nearest international airport for the people travelling from abroad. Flights from Lucknow and New Delhi travel to Pantnagar twice a week, so one can arrange accordingly. One can easily find a taxi from Pantnagar to Jim Corbett.
Best Time to Visit
Corbett National Park opens from mid November to mid June. The Jhirna zone of Corbett National Park remains open throughout the year. Birjani zone opens from mid October to mid June and the main core area Dhikala opens from 15th of November. The park closes partially during the monsoon. Most of the roads in Birjani and Dhikala are washed away during monsoon. The gates remain closed after sunset and no nocturnal driving is allowed.
Winter (October – February)
Well I chose the month of December and as per my experience that was the best time. It is also the best time for bird watching. Bird lovers are advised to visit during the winter season to get glimpses of varieties of birds. It is also the preferred season for the sighting of tigers. The chances of natural sightings of tigers are high during this time of the year. During this season the temperature is 5 degree C. but the day time is pleasant and balmy. The night can get pretty cold. Thus it is the best time to enjoy cold nights. Animals are easily spotted during this period as they come out to laze around in the sun.
