2026 is going to be a wild year for the Indian film fans and audience, looking at the line-up of films, planned to release this year. Here are some of my personal picks
- Dhurandhar-Part 2(Hindi)
The first part left all of us in a cliffhanger, now in this part, more sagas are going to unfold, as to what would be Hamza(Ranveer Singh)’s next step, how is the politics in Lyari going to change, and most importantly, who is Bade Saab? Can’t wait for Dhurandhar 2 to drop on 19th March 2026
2. Toxic(Kannada)
Yash returning to screen 4 years after KGF: Chapter 2(2022) is something everyone is excited for. While the teaser looks extremely identical to KGF, still interested to see what this film delivers. Also, the clash alongside Dhurandhar 2 on 19th March is going to be historical
3. O’ Romeo
A Shahid Kapoor-Vishal Bharadwaj reunion is something we all desired. Shahid in an unhinged role, Avinash Tiwari as the antagonist, a legend like Nana Patekar in the supporting cast and gorgeous faces like Tripti, Disha and Tamannah, this gangster drama will unfold on 13th February 2026.
4. Jana Nayagan(Tamil)
The last film of Thalapathy Vijay before his entry into politics, this film is going to be an emotional moment for his fans. While the film has been indefinitely delayed, but whenever it will drop, it is going to be a celebration by the fans.
5. Bhoot Bangla(Hindi)
An Akshay Kumar-Priyadarshan reunion after 16 years, that too for a horror-comedy, a large chunk of audience is genuinely excited for this film, hoping it would be a proper entertainer like their previous collaborations. The film is speculated to release on 2nd April 2026
6. Battle of Galwan (Hindi)
After a string of disappointing films, this film is expected to be that one film for Salman Khan, which might bring out the best from him, just like Sultan or Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Salman playing Colonel B. Santosh Babu, who was martyred in the 2020 Galwan valley clash, is something many are looking forward for. I’m both eager and also have a fear around this film, which releases on 17th April 2026
7. Love and War (Hindi)
A love triangle featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, that too being directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali is not a small thing. This film can be iconic, if done well. While this film was supposed to release in Christmas 2025, its postponement due to unknown reasons has caused this film to release in 2026, while a date has not been disclosed
8. Jailer 2(Tamil)
Megastar Rajinikanth returning as Muthuvel Pandian, walking in slo-mo with Anirudh’s BGM being played in the background, with Mithun Chakraborty as the villain is what Jailer 2 is going to be about. While many are still doubtful about the need of this sequel, its guaranteed that this is going to be a celebration by Thalaiva fans
9. King(Hindi)
The King Shah Rukh Khan returning on screen after three years, with a title equivalent to his personality, is going to be an extravaganza in itself. His old look is already breaking the Internet, and the mania which we’ll witness on screen this Christmas eve is going to be unimaginable!
10. Ramayana-Part 1(Hindi)
That one film for which all of us are extremely hyped up in 2026, is hands down Ramayan Part 1. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, VFX by DNEG, music by two Oscar winning composers Hans Zimmer and A R Rahman, and a star-cast as heavy as Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol and multiple other actors, the stakes are two high. This will either be too good, or too deplorable, nothing in between.
These are some films I’m personally excited for in 2026. Fingers are crossed that all these projects deliver and don’t disappoint.
