What is the need for Education Policy?

Education boosts productivity, capability, and prosperity of an individual. Such an educated person contributes to the enrichment of his family and country at large. It happens only when the education is consistent with the current demands of a market. Education inconsistent with the need of the industry is a theoretical knowledge without practical importance. Hence, the national education policy 2020 proposes to make it relevant and practical.

Education Policy is the set of rules governing the education system. It improves the way of learning and also helps to update the content.

Ministry of Human Resource and Development released National Education Policy 2020.

  1.  It incorporates rules to enhance the education system including preschool,    primary school, high school, and higher education.

  3.  The policy reforms teaching at each level. It ensures the recruitment of the brightest teachers to impart quality education.
  4.  The new education policy guarantees the best education regardless of the place of living. It focuses on the underprivileged groups.

Five advantages of the National Education Policy 2020.

Inclusion of a Preschool :

Earlier, the 10+2 education system focuses only on first to twelve grade students age 6 to 15 years.

As per the new education policy, over 85% of the cumulative brain of a child develops before the age of 6 years. Hence, it’s necessary to take care of the growth and stimulation of the brain at an early age.

The new National Education policy 2020 focuses on the education of the student of preschool in the age group 3 to 6 years.

It improves the quality of education of preschool students.

Practical Approach to School Education:

It reduces the curriculum syllabus of the school to promote essential learning and critical thinking.

The new education policy emphasizes the practical approach rather than rote learning.

As a result, the students can learn coding, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science from grade 6. So, It helps students to improve their skills and creativity.

Emphasizes Non-academic Performance:

Earlier, assessment of students was based only on their academic skills. In the old education system, a student skilled in extracurricular activities such as debates or sports had no importance. Only the final report card included academic score was considered important.

The new education system focuses on the both academic and non-academic performance of the student.

Research-Based Higher Education:

Higher education under the new National Education Policy 2020 emphasizes the foundation of research and innovation. It ensures peer-reviewed research and its funding.

Earlier, students tend to buy or steal the thesis of the research without preparing on their own.

The new education policy will curb such malpractices.

Multidisciplinary Educational Institutes:

The education policy focuses on a large number of multidisciplinary and multilingual colleges and universities.

 It removes rigidity across various streams and provides the student with an opportunity to learn subjects from other disciplines.

Now the student from an engineering background can learn music or art student can learn physics or chemistry.

It helps in the comprehensive development of the student.
