WordPress is a beginner platform that hosts content (Content hosting is the storage and delivery of content like websites, images, and files) for other websites.
A User can create a new website with the dot-com domain or start their blog using the dot-blog domain.
On the internet, a domain is a space with a specific address. It is like a home to your content.
Please follow the process below to start working with WordPress
- Once you type in www.wordpress.com; In the top right corner you will find a button that says get started, please click on that button.
- It will then ask you to select your preferred domain.
- You may select a dotcom domain, a dot blog domain, or any other domain of your liking and as per your content. Some domains are free to use for the first year.
Once you are finished selecting your domain, you may press continue
A new window like the one given below will open –

- You may choose one of the plans given above ^ as per your needs
- Every pack of WordPress has its features, you have an option of comparing them before you make your decision. Once that is done, you are taken to the payments page.
- You fill in your details and complete your purchase.
- Select your most convenient payment option on your way out
- Once the payment is made, you are the proud owner of the select product and its features.
- Once a user buys a product on WordPress for a set role, It is integrated into your Website.
By default, you will find two content options at your convenience
One is Pages and the other is Post.
Pages
Pages are used for timeless, static content that doesn’t change often. They are usually located in the primary navigation menu. For example, your contact and about sections should be readily accessible and rarely need to be altered, hence they are made in the pages feature
Post
Posts are designed to be blog entries and are displayed in reverse chronological order by default. A user might use posts to publish your articles, the latest news, and other content that you wish to add regularly.
Then there are some other content options like –
Media
- Media is a button (tab) in your WordPress admin sidebar to manage user uploads. This includes images, audio, video, and other files.
- Under the Media menu, there are two screens. The first gives you access to the WordPress Media Library to view and manage the images and other media files a user adds to the website.
- The second screen allows you to upload new files to the media library.
Themes
- A WordPress theme represents the design of your website.
- It can control everything from colors to fonts, to the entire layout.
- In essence, what you see when viewing the front end of your site is shaped by the theme.
It is a collection of templates, code files, and stylesheets that contribute to the display of your website.
Plugins
- A WordPress plugin is software that “plugs into” your WordPress site.
- Plugins add new functions to a user’s site or extend functionality on a user’s site.
- This allows one to create any website e-commerce, portfolio, or directory sites. Examples of useful plugins are Elementor, Lightspeed Cache, and Yoast SEO.
Comments
- Comments allow your website’s visitors to discuss with the User and each other.
- One can turn comments on or off depending on their posts and the level of engagement they want on their post.
Users
There are different roles, users can take, in WordPress.
They can be an Administrator · Editor · Author · Contributor · Viewer · Subscriber
OR
They can be Starters, Explorer, Creator, Entrepreneur, or Enterprise
